India arrested him in 1994 and imprisoned him for being a member of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM), one of the leading terror groups backed by Osama bin Laden[citation needed]. He was sent to Saudi Arabia in the early 1980s by the University for higher studies where he met some Saudi Sheikhs who were taking part in Afghan jihad[citation needed]. They inspired him to join his colleague, Professor Zafar Iqbal, in taking an active role supporting the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. There he met some youth who later became his companions. In 1987 Hafiz Muhammad Saeed along with some Salafi Muslims founded Markaz Dawa-Wal-Irshad, which can be grouped with the Ahle Hadith. This is a puritanical interpretation of Islam that has drawn great financial support from Saudi Arabia. This organization spawned the jihadist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was based in Pakistan before 9/11 and was transferred to Kashmir after that[citation needed]. Lashkar's primary target is the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir although Saeed has spoken of "liberating" Hyderabad State and Junagadh from Indian rule as well.He is one of the most wanted terrorists of India
Maulana Masood Azhar: Maulana Masood Azhar is the founder of the group Jaish-e-Mohammed, The group's activities mainly involve carrying out terror attacks in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Masood Azhar is on India's most wanted list due to his long list of terror activities.
India arrested him in 1994 and imprisoned him for being a member of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM), one of the leading terror groups backed by Osama bin Laden[citation needed]. In December 1999, he was freed by the Indian government in exchange for passengers on the hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 (IC814) that was held hostage in Kandahar, Afghanistan, under Taliban control.The hijackers of IC814 were led by Masood Azhar's brother, Ibrahim Athar, and they stabbed to death one male civilian passenger who was on his way back from a honeymoon from Nepal with his wife during the hijack. The release of Masood Azhar by the Indian government led to strong outrage among the Indian public. Once Masood Azhar was handed over to the hijackers, they fled to Pakistan, although Pakistan claimed for a long time they did not enter the country - a claim that was proven wrong later on.The freed Masood Azhar's outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed later went on to carry out a string of deadly attacks against Indian targets, including the attack on the Indian parliament in December 2001 that brought India and Pakistan to the brink of a full-scale war.
Following the September 11 attacks, when the USA compelled Pakistan to act against terror organizations operating from Pakistani soil, Masood Azhar was detained for a year by Pakistani authorities in connection with the Indian parliament attack, but was never formally charged. The Lahore High Court ordered an end to his house arrest on 14 December 2002, much to the fury of India.
For many years he had denied belonging to any group and his family maintained he was a religious scholar, though evidence released in Pakistan after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto contradicts this.

1. Unlike other terrorists, Terrorists in Mumbay has not demanded anything? They don't demand release of their co-prisoners nor demanded money... why?? what was their target then? 2. Unlike other islamic Jehadis with beard and turbans, why Mumbai terrorists came with strange look - they wore jeans and T-shirts; clean-shaved and no turbans nor any sign of muslims terrorists we normally watch on media?

ber,people were busy with watching the 5th oneday day and night match,played against the England.We are femiliar with,a empty steets and no traffic,when cricket was palyed.The popular game of India.That day,when terrorists were cuming along with weapons by the boats,to the mumbai.There was no crowd at the beach of Mumbai.Which usually filled with crowd.So thats also turned into the favour of terrorists.May be this thing also taken into concideration,while thay were planning the attacks.
