THE HISTORY OF "CHRISTMAS":

Christmas, always associated with Christ’s birth literally means”Christ’s mass”. In general understanding, the story of Christmas begins with the birth of a babe in Bethlehem. It has been derived from the middle english term Christemasse. In early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter ? (chi), is the first letter of Christ. Since the mid-16th century ?, or the similar Roman letter X, has been used as an abbreviation for Christ.[8] Hence, Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas.
Christmas History goes way back to middle of winter, It is believed that Christ was born on the 25th, although the exact month is unknown. December was likely chosen so the Catholic Church could compete with rival pagan rituals held at that time of year and because of its closeness with the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere, a traditional time of celebration among many ancient cultures.

Which Date is Correct One???
* Right off the bat, we see that there's already some sort of
discrepancy regarding the dates that are observed.
*Most of the world celebrates Christmas on December 25th
on our standard Gregorian calendar.
*The Eastern Orthodox churches also celebrate it on
December 25th, but on the traditional Julian Calendar,
which falls on January 7th on our standard Gregorian
calendar.
* Then there's the Armenian Church that still celebrates
Christmas on January 6th, claiming that the date was
changed to December 25th in the late 4th century.
........Let's try to find out which date is actually the correct one.

XMAS STAR:

The stars that appear in the sky today are the same ones that were there two thousand years ago. Was there a nova at the time of Jesus' birth? The exact time of His birth is not known, but astronomers cannot place a new star appearance anywhere near the possible time. Could it have been a shooting star? Again, the astronomers say it was not likely. A meteor lasts only a few seconds or minutes at best. The wise men followed the star for weeks looking for Jesus. We can rule out comets as well. They can be seen by the naked eye for a week or months. But modern astronomers know which comets were close enough to earth hundreds and thousands of years ago and there was no comet visible to humans around the time of Christ's birth.

Some star gazers suggest that if we move the birth of Jesus to the springtime of 6 B.C., we can attribute the star to the time the planets Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn were close together in the heavens. They formed a triangle in the group of stars known as Pisces.

The wise men, themselves, were astrologers and studied the stars and planets and knew, according to Jewish rabbis, of the triangle and that it had appeared before the birth of Moses. Perhaps they interpreted it as a sign of a great event in the land of the Jewish people. This may have been the star of Bethlehem. Pisces became the special constellation of the Hebrew people.

Still, many people prefer to believe that the strange star did appear, and that it was simply a miracle and throughout the world today, the Christian holiday has usually begun with the appearance of the first star of Christmas Eve.

Who the magi were

Non-Biblical evidence

We may form a conjecture by non-Biblical evidence of a probable meaning to the word magoi. Herodotus (I, ci) is our authority for supposing that the Magi were the sacred caste of the Medes. They provided priests for Persia, and, regardless of dynastic vicissitudes, ever kept up their dominating religious influence. To the head of this caste, Nergal Sharezar, Jeremias gives the title Rab-Mag, "Chief Magus" (Jeremiah 39:3, 39:13, in Hebrew original — Septuagint and Vulgate translations are erroneous here). After the downfall of Assyrian and Babylonian power, the religion of the Magi held sway in Persia. Cyrus completely conquered the sacred caste; his son Cambyses severely repressed it. The Magians revolted and set up Gaumata, their chief, as King of Persia under the name of Smerdis. He was, however, murdered (521 B.C.), and Darius became king. This downfall of the Magi was celebrated by a national Persian holiday called magophonia (Her., III, lxiii, lxxiii, lxxix). Still the religious influence of this priestly caste continued throughout the rule of the Achaemenian dynasty in Persia (Ctesias, "Persica", X-XV); and is not unlikely that at the time of the birth of Christ it was still flourishing under the Parthian dominion. Strabo (XI, ix, 3) says that the Magian priests formed one of the two councils of the Parthian Empire.

Biblical evidence

The word magoi often has the meaning of "magician", in both Old and New Testaments (see Acts 8:9; 13:6, 8; also the Septuagint of Daniel 1:20; 2:2, 2:10, 2:27; 4:4; 5:7, 5:11, 5:15). St. Justin (Tryph., lxxviii), Origen (Cels., I, lx), St. Augustine (Serm. xx, De epiphania) and St. Jerome (In Isa., xix, 1) find the same meaning in the second chapter of Matthew, though this is not the common interpretation.

Patristic evidence

No Father of the Church holds the Magi to have been kings. Tertullian ("Adv. Marcion.", III, xiii) says that they were wellnigh kings (fere reges), and so agrees with what we have concluded from non-Biblical evidence. The Church, indeed, in her liturgy, applies to the Magi the words: "The kings of Tharsis and the islands shall offer presents; the kings of the Arabians and of Saba shall bring him gifts: and all the kings of the earth shall adore him" (Psalm 71:10). But this use of the text in reference to them no more proves that they were kings than it traces their journey from Tharsis, Arabia, and Saba. As sometimes happens, a liturgical accommodation of a text has in time come to be looked upon by some as an authentic interpretation thereof. Neither were they magicians: the good meaning of magoi, though found nowhere else in the Bible, is demanded by the context of the second chapter of St. Matthew. These Magians can have been none other than members of the priestly caste already referred to. The religion of the Magi was fundamentally that of Zoroaster and forbade sorcery; their astrology and skill in interpreting dreams were occasions of their finding Christ. The Gospel narrative omits to mention the number of the Magi, and there is no certain tradition in this matter. Some Fathers speak of three Magi; they are very likely influenced by the number of gifts. In the Orient, tradition favours twelve. Early Christian art is no consistent witness:

a painting in the cemetery of Sts. Peter and Marcellinus shows two;
one in the Lateran Museum, three;
one in the cemetery of Domitilla, four;
a vase in the Kircher Museum, eight (Marucchi, "Eléments d'archéologie chrétienne", Paris, 1899, I 197).

The names of the Magi are as uncertain as is their number. Among the Latins, from the seventh century, we find slight variants of the names, Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar; the Martyrology mentions St. Gaspar, on the first, St. Melchior, on the sixth, and St. Balthasar, on the eleventh of January (Acta SS., I, 8, 323, 664). The Syrians have Larvandad, Hormisdas, Gushnasaph, etc.; the Armenians, Kagba, Badadilma, etc. (Cf. Acta Sanctorum, May, I, 1780). Passing over the purely legendary notion that they represented the three families which are descended from Noah, it appears they all came from "the east" (Matthew 2:1, 2, 9). XMAS TREE:

To Millions the world over Christmas brings forth a time of Joy and Peace. This is symbolized by no other than the gaily decorated Christmas tree! It certainly is not a religious symbol and has never been so through out history!

Every festival what ever the reason behind it has a key feature which identifies it. This is in fact is the sole main pivotal source of fun. Take Halloween for example. It is the Pumpkin with its associated ghoulish features. During Thanks Giving the centre piece of the festival becomes the Turkey. And the list goes on and on. But during the greatest of all festivals, the Christmas, it is the Christmas tree in spite of the numerous other attractions it has. As children this singular feature showered you with many blessings of pleasure and so many years after you still find the same joy in passing it on now to your children.

True the sole spirit of Christmas is the message of peace and salvation the prince of peace brought to a world of sinners. But what better way there is to share this message with your loved ones than through love, fun, giving and forgiving symbolized by the Christmas tree!

Do you remember the days with the onset of the festive season when you mom would go down to the basement, take out the boxes that were brought there after the last Christmas for storage. Now dust covered she would clean it, perhaps with your Dad and the whole family helping, then would carry the dismantled Tree up to the living area and set it up. The joy of working together, the little ones running about to give a helping hand (as they believed!), watching it finally coming up to its full height. Decorating it with strings of tiny electric bulbs, mirrored balls, glittery foil decorations, figurines, shiny stars and what not. But the crowing glory was when mom would take the largest star which was waiting its turn all this while, climb up the ladder and fix it at the top. The star which would shine and convey the message of peace to everyone around from the top of the Christmas tree!

Now every one knew its only days for the seasonal joys least of which would not be what Santa is expected to bring all the way from the land of perennial snow.

Origin

According to Christian lore, the Christmas tree is associated with St Boniface and the German town of Geismar. Sometime in St Boniface's lifetime (c. 672-754) he cut down the tree of Thor in order to disprove the legitimacy of the Norse gods to the local German tribe. St. Boniface saw a fir tree growing in the roots of the old oak. Taking this as a sign of the Christian faith, he said "...let Christ be at the center of your households..." using the fir tree as a symbol of Christianity.

The tradition of the Christmas tree as it is today known is fairly young. It was established by Martin Luther as a Protestant counterpart to the Catholic Nativity scene. Luther established the Christmas tree as a symbol of the Tree of Life Garden of Eden.

It is said that the custom of having a decorated Christmas tree originated in the sixteenth century in the country now we call Latvia. No one knows for certain. But it is true that during the period of early Christianity there was no such practice! Over the centuries it spread over the other Christian kingdoms. Certainly the decorations would not have been what we use today and the trees would not have been of any synthetic material as now common. The fir trees used would have been found from the neighborhood it self. Cutting the branches down, dragging it to their homes and setting it up would have brought the sense of joy of working together, rekindling the spirit of Christmas the same way as we know today though so many centuries after.

The Christmas tree and the tradition of Santa Claus go hand in hand. You would certainly remember the excitement you experienced while waiting for Santa to bring the little Gifts you wrote to him about weeks ago. The ecstasy of seeing what you got would be beyond comprehension as an adult today. But the ambience of Christmas Tree would not be different today to what you felt then many years ago.

The times have changed when the fir tree came from the strip of forest in the neighborhood. Today only a lucky few get the real feeling of a natural Christmas tree. The others who may despise synthetic and non sustainable material too may have to go for the cheap Plastic Trees out of necessity. Regrettably the environmental impact these will be known only years later. One good thing about synthetic trees apart from the price is that they are recyclable.

SANTA CLAUSE:

Everybody who likes to be given presents knows Santa Claus. Everyone easily recognizes that bearded man dressed in red clothes with white collar, sleeves and belt. Every child knows of his generosity, and all the children use to impatiently await his arrival on Christmas Day, when their stockings hung at the fireplace, become full of Santa’s gifts.

The Evolution of Santa Claus

The legend of Santa Claus originates from a 4th century bishop named Saint Nicholas of Myra. Famous for his generosity to the poor in what is present day Turkey, Saint Nicholas is said to have saved three impoverished daughters from slavery by providing for their dowries. Saint Nicholas is portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes, and his feast day is celebrated on the anniversary of his death, December 6.

Toward the end of the 18th century, Dutch settlers brought the legend of Saint Nicholas, known to them as Sinter Klaas, to America. Legend has it that Sinter Klaas rode a white horse and left gifts in wooden shoes. This story merged with the British character Father Christmas, who dates back at least as far as the 17th century. Sinter Klaas was eventually Americanized to “Santa Claus.”

The rituals and fantasy surrounding Santa Claus became fixed in the modern American imagination with the publication of the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Moore in 1823. Better known as “The Night Before Christmas,” the poem established Santa´s physical appearance (plump and jolly), his mode of transportation (a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer), and his method of toy delivery (down the chimney) for generations to come.

Santa Claus Biography

Bishop, Roman Catholic saint. Nicholas of Myra was born sometime around AD 280 in Patara, Lycia, an ancient area that is part of present-day Turkey. He lost both of his parents as a young man and reportedly used his inheritance to help the poor and sick. He later served as bishop of Myra, a city that is called now Demre.

There are many legends about Saint Nicholas. One story tells how he helped three poor sisters. Their father did not have enough money to pay their dowries and thought of selling them into servitude. Three times, Saint Nicholas secretly went to their house at night and put a bag of money inside. The man used the money so that one of his daughters could marry. On the third visit, the man saw St. Nicholas and thanked him for his kindness. He also reportedly saved three men who were falsely imprisoned and sentenced to death.

Several sources state St. Nicholas is believed to have died on December 6, 345. Over the years, stories of his miracles and work for the poor spread to other parts of the world. He became known as the protector of children and sailors and was associated with gift-giving. He was a popular saint in Europe until the time of the Reformation in the 1500s, a religious movement that led to the creation of Protestantism, which turned away from the practice of honoring saints. St. Nicholas, however, remained an important figure in Holland.

The Dutch continued to celebrate the feast day of Saint Nicholas, December 6. It was a common practice for children to put out their shoes the night before. In the morning, they would discover the gifts that Saint Nicholas had left there for them. Dutch immigrants brought St. Nicholas—known to them as Sint Nikolaas or by his nickname Sinter Klaas—and his gift-giving ways to America in the 1700s.

In America, St. Nicholas went through many transformations and eventually Sinter Klaas became Santa Claus. Instead of giving gifts on December 6, he became a part of the Christmas holiday. In the 1820 poem “An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clarke Moore, he is described as a jolly, heavy man who comes down the chimney to leave presents for deserving children and drives a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. The cartoonist Thomas Nast added to the St. Nicholas legend with an 1881 drawing of Santa as wearing a red suit with white fur trim. Once a kind, charitable bishop, St. Nicholas had become the Santa Claus we know today.

Investigators in India might have had their best chance yet to trace those Indians who have stashed away billions in the tiny tax haven of Liechtenstein, a small landlocked country between Austria and Switzerland, provided the Manmohan Singh government asked for the information on offer.
The dope on hundreds of rich Indians who have black money parked in Liechtenstein could be made available to the authorities here as the German government, which has obtained a list of account holders at Liechtenstein’s LTG Bank, is willing to part with the names. The German federal government has been willing to do this free of charge since February, 2008.
Several countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Ireland have already used the opportunity to zero in on their citizens who have evaded taxes and smuggled their wealth to the principality, the sixth-smallest country in the world. But Transparency International says India has maintained “a stoic silence over the issue and has not approached the German government for this data”.
Expressing concern over the India’s lackadaisical attitude in getting after offenders who have cheated the tax authorities of billions of dollars is quite surprising and the Indian chapter of Transparency International — an international organization campaigning to reduce corruption— had urged the government to take all necessary steps to seek the data.
Admiral R H Tahiliani, chairman of TI India and a former navy chief, said: “This money belongs to the people of India and it is possible that it has been tucked away in this distant country by those who have acquired it illegally.”
“There should be complete transparency and accountability about this money and it is for the government to find this out and inform people,” Admiral Tahiliani, said, referring to the black money stashed away abroad.
Indeed, the offer looks too good to refuse. It is a bit like being served secrets on a platter and if the government does not waste time looking a gift horse in the mouth, it could get data that might otherwise never be accessed given the laws that protect tax havens that often require specific proof of criminality. Suspecting that the government’s chariness could stem from fears that politicians and industrialists might be compromised by the data, TI has, in a statement, said: “It is alleged that this money belongs to rich and powerful politicians, industrialists and stock brokers and that is why the reluctance on the part of Government of India (to get details from Germany).”
2 Liechtenstein: Paradise for tax evaders
Liechtenstein, like Switzerland, St Kitts, Canary Islands, Antigua and Bahamas, has been a haven for wealthy people to hide their ill-gotten wealth away from the prying eyes of tax authorities. Referring to reports, TI mentioned that German intelligence agency - BND - has details of about 800 clients of LTG Bank - run by Liechtenstein’s ruling dynasty - and prosecutors are using this information to target suspected tax evaders.
“The Indian ministry of finance and PMO have, however, not shown much interest in finding out about those who have their lockers on the secret banks of Liechtenstein which prides itself in its banking system,” TI said.
Referring to such banking systems, TI also said that secretive and non-transparent tax havens could be used for money that is related to drugs and terrorism. These accounts have been frequently used to channel money for purchase of arms.
In February, 2008 the head of Deutsche Post, Klaus Zumwinkel, was forced to resign after being accused of stashing funds away in Liechtenstein. On February 25, Germany said the details of the 800 non-German account-holders would be given to their respective countries free of cost.
Government must not think twice before accepting the offer from Germany to reveal the names of those who have illegally stashed away money in Liechtenstein. Many, if not most, of the account holders are likely to be corrupt politicians and others hiding wealth obtained by dubious means, as Transparency International has rightly pointed out. If the government is serious about cleansing public life in India, the least it can do is accept such fortuitous offers with alacrity. The citizens have a right to know who is secreting away public money into personal accounts and the government has a duty to get that information if it can.
Public loot since 1947: Let us bring back our money
It is one of the biggest loots witnessed by mankind — the loot of the aam aadmi (common man) since 1947 by his brethren occupying public office.
It has been orchestrated by politicians, bureaucrats and some businessmen. The list is almost all-encompassing. No wonder, everyone in India loots with impunity and without any fear.
What is even more depressing in that this ill-gotten wealth of ours has been stashed away abroad into secret bank accounts located in some of the world’s best known tax havens. And to that extent the Indian economy has been striped of its wealth.
Ordinary Indians may not be exactly aware of how such secret accounts operate and what are the rules and regulations that go on to govern such tax havens. However, one may well be aware of ‘Swiss bank accounts,’ the shorthand for murky dealings, secrecy and of course pilferage from developing countries into rich developed ones.
We are at the end of year 2008 and still there is no further movement. The nation has been fooled for 60 years now and it can see through the silence of its politicians. It is time that Indians including NRIs must take action to bring back this enormous wealth back to the country.

1) Yes, 70 lakhs crores rupees of India are lying in Switzerland banks. This is the huge black amount parked in foreign Bank, as India is the champion of Black Money among all 180 countries of the world.
2) German Government officially wrote a letter to Indian Government that they (German Government) are willing to inform the details of holders of 70 lakh crore rupees in foreign Banks, if Indian Government officially asks them.
3) On 22-5-08, this news already published in The Times of India and other Newspapers based on German Government’s official letter to Indian Government.
4) But the Indian Government did not send any official enquiry to Germany for details of said money which are sent outside India between 1947 to 2008. The opposition party is also equally not interested in doing so because most of the amount is owned by these dirty, sinful and traitor politicians.
5) This money belongs to our country. From these funds we can repay 13 times of our country’s foreign debt. The interest alone can take care of the Centre’s yearly budget. People need not pay any taxes and we can pay Rs. 1 lakh to each of 45 crore poor families.
6) Let us imagine, if Swiss Bank is holding Rs. 70 lakh crores, then how much money is deposited in other this kind of 69 Banks in foreign? How much they have deprived the Indian people after freedom? More over if the account holder dies the Bank become the owner of the funds in his account.

The dope on hundreds of rich Indians who have black money parked in Liechtenstein could be made available to the authorities here as the German government, which has obtained a list of account holders at Liechtenstein’s LTG Bank, is willing to part with the names.
Several countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Ireland have already used the opportunity to zero in on their citizens who have evaded taxes and smuggled their wealth to the principality, the sixth-smallest country in the world. But Transparency International says India has maintained ‘a stoic silence over the issue and has not approached the German government for this data’.
Expressing concern over the Indian government’s apparently lackadaisical attitude in getting after offenders who have cheated the tax authorities of millions of dollars is quite surprising and the Indian chapter of TI - an organization campaigning to reduce corruption - has urged the government to take all necessary steps to seek the data.
Admiral R H Tahiliani, chairman if TI India and a former navy chief, said: ‘’This money belongs to the people of India and it is possible that it has been tucked away in this distant country by those who have acquired it illegally and are now evading taxes.
“There should be complete transparency and accountability about this money and it is for the government to find this out and inform people,” Admiral Tahiliani, said, referring to the black money stashed away abroad.
Indeed, the offer looks too good to refuse. It is a bit like being served secrets on a platter and if the government does not waste time looking a gift horse in the mouth, it could get data that might otherwise never be accessed given the laws that protect tax havens that often require specific proof of criminality.
In fact, the dice is invariably loaded against investigators - for example the Hindujas were able to delay proceedings in the Bofors case by challenging each application filed by CBI.
Suspecting that the government’s chariness could stem from fears that influential politicians and industrialists might be compromised by the Liechenstein data, TI has, in a statement, said: “It is alleged that this money belongs to rich and powerful politicians, industrialists and stock brokers and that is why the reluctance on the part of government of India (to get details from Germany).” Liechtenstein, like Switzerland, St Kitts, Canary Islands, Antigua and Bahamas, has been a haven for wealthy people to hide their ill-gotten wealth away from the prying eyes of tax authorities. Referring to reports, TI mentioned that German intelligence agency - BND - has details of about 800 clients of LTG Bank - run by Liechtenstein’s ruling dynasty - and prosecutors are using this information to target suspected tax evaders.
“The ministry of finance and PMO have, however, not shown much interest in finding out about those who have their lockers on the secret banks of Liechtenstein which prides itself in its banking system,” TI said.
Referring to such banking systems, TI also said that secretive and non-transparent tax havens could be used for money that is related to drugs and terrorism. These accounts have been frequently used to channel money for purchase of arms.

In February, the head of Deutsche Post, Klaus Zumwinkel, was forced to resign after being accused of stashing funds away in Liechtenstein. On February 25, Germany said the details of the 800 non-German account-holders would be given to their respective countries free of cost.

Government must not think twice before accepting the offer from Germany to reveal the names of those who have illegally stashed away money in Liechtenstein. Many, if not most, of the account holders are likely to be corrupt politicians and others hiding wealth obtained by dubious means, as Transparency International has rightly pointed out. If the government is serious about cleansing public life in India, the least it can do is accept such fortuitous offers with alacrity. The citizens have a right to know who is secreting away public money into personal accounts and the government has a duty to get that information if it can.
Public loot since 1947: Let us bring back our money

It is one of the biggest loots witnessed by mankind — the loot of the aam aadmi (common man) since 1947 by his brethren occupying public office.
It has been orchestrated by politicians, bureaucrats and some businessmen. The list is almost all-encompassing. No wonder, everyone in India loots with impunity and without any fear.
What is even more depressing in that this ill-gotten wealth of ours has been stashed away abroad into secret bank accounts located in some of the world’s best known tax havens. And to that extent the Indian economy has been striped of its wealth.
Ordinary Indians may not be exactly aware of how such secret accounts operate and what are the rules and regulations that go on to govern such tax havens. However, one may well be aware of ‘Swiss bank accounts,’ the shorthand for murky dealings, secrecy and of course pilferage from developing countries into rich developed ones.
In fact, some finance experts and economists believe tax havens to be a conspiracy of the western world against the poor countries. By allowing the proliferation of tax havens in the twentieth century, the western world explicitly encourages the movement of scarce capital from the developing countries to the rich.
In March 2005, the Tax Justice Network (TJN) published a research finding demonstrating that $11.5 trillion of personal wealth was held offshore by rich individuals across the globe. The findings estimated that a large proportion of this wealth was managed from some 70 tax havens.
Further, augmenting these studies of TJN, Raymond Baker — in his widely celebrated book titled Capitalism’s Achilles Heel: Dirty Money and How to Renew the Free Market System — estimates that at least $5 trillion have been shifted out of poorer countries to the West since the mid-1970s. It is further estimated by experts that one per cent of the world’s population holds more than 57 per cent of total global wealth, routing it invariably through these tax havens. How much of this is from India is anybody’s guess.
What is to be noted here is that most of the wealth of Indians parked in these tax havens is illegitimate money acquired through corrupt means. Naturally the secrecy associated with the bank accounts in such places is central to the issue, not their low tax rates as the term ‘tax havens’ suggests. Remember Bofors and how India could not trace the ultimate beneficiary of those transactions because of the secrecy associated with these bank accounts?
But this piece is not about Western conspiracy. Rather it is all about recovering out own wealth from these countries. And in this initiative, for obvious reasons, one can expect absolute stonewalling by our own government as well as foreign ones.
Naturally this has to be a public initiative — an initiative by you and me, jointly ensuring that our government acts decisively. And in this process there can be no place for any debate — either you are with this initiative or against it.

It's the story of facts...Hope Indians may realise this situation...Government must need to take action against these tax avaders...This huge amount may usefull to the people...Really facing the poverty...Hope the best days may come...Hope these Black money people may help to build the better palce...better INDIA..

2.The rate of warming is increasing. The 20 th century’s last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennial, according to a number of climate studies. And United Nations ‘ Intergovernmental panel climate change(ipcc)reports that 11 of the past 12 years are among the dozen warmest since 1850.
3.The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska,western Canada,and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average,according to the multinational Arctic climate impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004.
4.Arcitic ice is rapidly disappearing,and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier.Polar bears and indigenous cultures are already suffering from the sea-ice loss.
5.Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting-for example,montana’s Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers,versus 150 in 1910.In the northern Hemisphere,thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin in a week later.
6.Coral reefs,which are highly sensitive to small changes in water temperature,suffered the worst bleaching –or die-off in response to stress-ever recorded in 1998,with some areas seeing bleach rates of 70 percent.Experts expect these sorts of events to increase in frequency and intensity in the next 50 years as sea temperatures rise.
7.An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events,such as wildfires,heat waves,and strong tropical storms,is also attributed in part to climate change by some experts.

Lashkar-e-Taiba members have carried out major terror attacks against India and its objective is to introduce an Islamic state in South Asia and to 'liberate' Muslims residing in Indian administered Kashmir.Some breakaway Lashkar members have also been accused of carrying out attacks in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, to mark its opposition to the policies of President Pervez Musharraf. The organization is banned as a terrorist organization by India, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union,[8] Russia [9] and Australia.[10] According to some sources, Laskar-e-Taiba renamed itself to Jama'at-ud-Da'wah (JUD) in January 2002 to escape the ban imposed by the Pakistani government

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed: Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is the leader of Jama'at-ud-Da'wah and Lashkar-e-Toiba, widely considered to be a single terrorist organization originating in Pakistan. He was a professor at the University of Engineering and Technology (Lahore),Pakistan, in the department of Islamic Studies. He was sent to Saudi Arabia in the early 1980s by the University for higher studies where he met some Saudi Sheikhs who were taking part in Afghan jihad[citation needed]. They inspired him to join his colleague, Professor Zafar Iqbal, in taking an active role supporting the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. There he met some youth who later became his companions. In 1987 Hafiz Muhammad Saeed along with some Salafi Muslims founded Markaz Dawa-Wal-Irshad, which can be grouped with the Ahle Hadith. This is a puritanical interpretation of Islam that has drawn great financial support from Saudi Arabia. This organization spawned the jihadist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was based in Pakistan before 9/11 and was transferred to Kashmir after that[citation needed]. Lashkar's primary target is the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir although Saeed has spoken of "liberating" Hyderabad State and Junagadh from Indian rule as well.

Maulana Masood Azhar: Maulana Masood Azhar is the founder of the group Jaish-e-Mohammed, The group's activities mainly involve carrying out terror attacks in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Masood Azhar is on India's most wanted list due to his long list of terror activities. India arrested him in 1994 and imprisoned him for being a member of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM), one of the leading terror groups backed by Osama bin Laden[citation needed]. In December 1999, he was freed by the Indian government in exchange for passengers on the hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 (IC814) that was held hostage in Kandahar, Afghanistan, under Taliban control.The hijackers of IC814 were led by Masood Azhar's brother, Ibrahim Athar, and they stabbed to death one male civilian passenger who was on his way back from a honeymoon from Nepal with his wife during the hijack. The release of Masood Azhar by the Indian government led to strong outrage among the Indian public. Once Masood Azhar was handed over to the hijackers, they fled to Pakistan, although Pakistan claimed for a long time they did not enter the country - a claim that was proven wrong later on.
The freed Masood Azhar's outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed later went on to carry out a string of deadly attacks against Indian targets, including the attack on the Indian parliament in December 2001 that brought India and Pakistan to the brink of a full-scale war.
Following the September 11 attacks, when the USA compelled Pakistan to act against terror organizations operating from Pakistani soil, Masood Azhar was detained for a year by Pakistani authorities in connection with the Indian parliament attack, but was never formally charged. The Lahore High Court ordered an end to his house arrest on 14 December 2002, much to the fury of India.
For many years he had denied belonging to any group and his family maintained he was a religious scholar, though evidence released in Pakistan after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto contradicts this.

The Bush Administration, under advisement from the Indian Government, has imposed sanctions on Ibrahim. Although Pakistan denies any knowledge of his existence, Indian intelligence agencies, such as Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), believe that Dawood currently resides in Karachi, and is provided protection, by the Pakistani intelligence agency, Inter Services Intelligence

This Particular drama has been started around 9:30 and 10:00 pm....The terrorists has started their attacks,around the city....They has selected main areas for their attacks..According to the sources.....The city has been in the terror form the last nite....The Terrorists have spread across the city to target the major areas like....Chathrapathi Sivaji terminus,Taj hotel,oberai hotel,Metro cinema etc.....The trained and young terrorists has targeted these areas for their attacks....At first the firing has started near CST...so many people were injured and sum were killed in this particular incident,they also Killed the staff of TAJ....and later taken the oberai hotel into Hostage....

WHO IS BEHIND THE ATTACKS?........

Witnesses say the attackers were young South Asian men speaking Hindi or Urdu, suggesting they are probably members of an Indian militant group rather than foreigners.
The attacks were claimed by a previously unknown group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen in an e-mail to news organisations. Deccan is an area of southern India.
Analysts say that while it is not clear whether the claim is genuine, the attacks were most likely carried out by a group called the Indian Mujahideen. The name used in the claim of responsibility suggests the attackers could be members of a south Indian offshoot or cell of the Indian Mujahideen.

WHO ARE THE INDIAN MUJAHIDEEN?
Indian police say the Indian Mujahideen is an offshoot of the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), but that local Muslims appear to have been given training and backing from militant groups in neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh.
SIMI has been blamed by police for almost every major bomb attack in India, including explosions on commuter trains in Mumbai two years ago that killed 187 people.
Police said the Indian Mujahideen may also include former members of the Bangladeshi militant group Harkat-ul-Jihad al Islami.

WHY ARE THEY SUSPECTED OF BEING BEHIND THE MUMBAI ATTACKS?
In an e-mail to various media in September, the group denounced Mumbai's police anti-terrorist squad, accusing them of harassing Muslims.
"If this is the degree your arrogance has reached, and if you think that by these stunts you can scare us, then let the Indian Mujahideen warn all the people of Mumbai that whatever deadly attacks Mumbaikars will face in future, their responsibility would lie with the Mumbai ATS and their guardians," it said.
The Indian Mujahideen have made credible claims of responsibility for most of the recent major attacks on civilian targets in India over the past two years.
The Mumbai attacks appear to have been carefully co-ordinated, well-planned and involved a large number of attackers. A high level of sophistication has also been a hallmark of previous attacks by the Indian Mujahideen.
The Mumbai attacks also focused clearly on tourist targets, including two luxury hotels and a famous cafe.
In May, the Indian Mujahideen made a specific threat to attack tourist sites in India unless the government stopped supporting the United States in the international arena.
The threat was made in an e-mail claiming responsibility for bomb attacks that killed 63 people in the tourist city of Jaipur. The e-mail, signed by "Guru Al-Hindi", declared "open war against India" and included the serial number of one of the bicycles on which the bombs were left.
Witnesses in Mumbai say the attackers in Mumbai singled out Americans and Britons in their attacks.

All previous Incidents The Indian Mujahideen are suspected of involvement involved co-ordinated serial bombs.
The Mumbai attacks also show clear signs of co-ordination but were carried out by gunmen, some carrying grenades.
The tactics -- a military-style assault on soft targets, singling out foreigners, and taking hostages -- are rare and do not fit the usual methods of militant attacks on civilian areas.
However, similar attacks have been carried out before, notably the May 2004 attacks in the eastern Saudi city of Khobar.
Gunmen attacked two oil industry installations and a foreign workers' housing complex in the city, taking more than 50 hostages and killing 22 of them. The attackers asked hostages whether they were Christian or Muslim before deciding whom to kill.

The Heroic Death Of Police Officials......

Hemant Karkare. Vijay Salaskar. Ashok Kamte. These men who fell to the bullets as terror raised its uglya head again in Mumbai, were all professionals highly specialized in their chosen filed of law enforcement and were held in high esteem. Hemant Karkare, for instance headed Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), an agency which has topped headlines for reasons right and wrong, in the wake of the now controversial Malegaon blast probe. Salaskar on the other hand belonged to the Mumbai’s very own group of ‘untouchables’ who won accolades for their much-publicised ‘encounter killings’ targeting wanted gangsters and criminals.
However, the manner in which these officers were targeted and killed by the terrorists in Wednesday night’s attack raises an important question: Was there a preplanned and premeditated move to eliminate these men who mattered in Maharashtra’s security and law enforcement apparatus, as part of plain revenge? Or was it just a matter of ‘collateral damage, whereby they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Hemanth Karkare....The chief of ATS:

Hemant Karkare (c. 1954 - 26 November 2008) was chief of of the Mumbai Anti Terrorist Squad. He was killed in 26 November 2008 Mumbai attacks. He was hit by three bullets to his chest.
Mr. Karkare, who was the 1982 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, held a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vishveshvarayya Regional Engineering in Nagpur. He also served in the Naxalite-infested Chandarpur area of the state.
As ATS Chief he was also involved in the Malegaon blast probe which was subject to a lot of criticism by many Hindu organisations. His brave act of fighting the terrorists ended in tragedy.
"Our chief Karkare, my senior officer Salaskar and ACP Kamte died while engaging terrorists outside the Cama hospital," a sobbing Dalvi told Rediff.com. "All of a sudden, terrorists threw grenades at Karkare leading to chaos. We are unable to confirm whether they fell to terrorist fire or were killed by the grenades."
Vijay Salaskar, 80 encounters,
Not everyday does a politician stay away from the polling booth on voting day fearing that a cop will bump him off. But if you are a politician named Arun Gawli, then it makes sense to stay as far away from a cop called Salaskar.
Salaskar is single-handedly credited for wiping out the gang of the home-bred don-turned-politician in the late 1990s.
He also destroyed the powerful and frightening hold the drug mafia was beginning to take over Mumbai.
Salaskar was also the man who is credited with unearthing the gutka industry-underworld nexus. It is said that he was sidelined for two years. In late 2007, he was reinstated to the crime branch, where he heads the anti-extortion cell.
Though allegations of killing gangsters in cold blood have been leveled at Salaskar too, he is relatively untouched by controversy as much as his colleagues from the batch of 1983 do.

Police Ashok Kamte was DCP, Zone 1 in Mumbai, and was also a key officer in the state police. He had also served as Commissioner for Solapur and has always been known to be in the thick of the action.

Terrorists sprayed bullets from automatic weapons and hurled grenades at several nearly simultaneous strikes on more than a dozen spots around the city, including five-star Taj Mahal and Oberoi hotels, Victoria Terminus, vile parle, Santa Cruz, Worli and Leopold Cafe in Colaba.

In one way or another, almost all drugs over stimulate the pleasure center of the brain, flooding it with the neurotransmitter dopamine which produces euphoria. These drugs cause increased energy, rapid heart rate and elevated blood pressure, but they also produce racing thoughts and make you feel overly-stimulated. Continued use causes rapid breathing, irritability, impulsiveness, aggression, nervousness, insomnia, weight loss, tolerance, addiction, and possible heart failure. These drugs also cause an impairment in cognitive functioning which negatively affects memory and impacts the ability to learn.

For most of us, it’s a no-brainer to avoid misuse of drugs: we see that the dangers and destructive long-term effects outweigh any momentary pleasure drugs afford and act accordingly. But it’s also easy to understand why people use and abuse drugs that pose risks to health and well-being. It’s a matter of brain chemistry.
Drugs are chemicals that enter the brain and mess with the way nerve cells normally send, receive, and process information. Some imitate natural neurotransmitters; for example, narcotic pain relievers mimic the effects of endorphins, the body’s natural “feel-good” chemical. Or they are similar enough to the brain’s natural chemical messengers that they trick brain receptors into activating nerve cells. Stimulants such as cocaine and methamphetamines cause the neurons to release too much of the neurotransmitters, causing the sensation users describe as the brain “racing.”
And, in one way or another, almost all drugs overstimulate the pleasure center of the brain, flooding it with the neurotransmitter dopamine. That produces euphoria, and that heightened pleasure can be so compelling that the brain wants that feeling back again and again. Unfortunately, with repeated use of a drug, the brain becomes accustomed to the dopamine surges by producing less of it, so the user has to take more of the drug to feel the same pleasure — the phenomenon known as tolerance.
But what causes people to want to tinker with their brain chemistry in the first place? Some are thrill-seekers, some just curious; some try drugs because their friends use, or they want to be perceived as cool. Even more susceptible, though, are the many people who use drugs in order to cope with unpleasant emotions and the difficulties of life. The National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates that about half of all drug abusers also suffer from a mental illness such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.
People who are suffering emotionally use drugs not so much for the rush but to escape from their problems. They’re trying to self-medicate themselves out of loneliness, low self-esteem, unhappy relationships, stress, and many other types of problems. Drug use doesn’t solve any of those problems, and it can easily make them worse or create new ones. But even if the user knows that, the short-term escape drugs provide can be so attractive that the dangerous consequences of abuse can seem unimportant.

Contemporary adolescence is filled with stress and problems, some of which is exaggerated, but unfortunately some of the stress is experienced fully. Even if a teen over-dramatizes or magnifies a problem, the temptation to self-medicate is real
Although it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between normal adolescent behaviors and drug-related activities, it is possible to get a good picture of what’s going on in your child’s life if you take an active interest in their daily lives. Many parents rely on the three W’s:

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference. It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America. I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation's next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House. And while she's no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure. To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics - you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you've sacrificed to get it done. But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to - it belongs to you. I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington - it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston .

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor's bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you - we as a people will get there. There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can't solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years - block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek - it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you. So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow. This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that's on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta . She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old. She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons - because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.
And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America - the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes We Can. At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes We Can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes We Can. When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes We Can. She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham , a bridge in Selma , and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that "We Shall Overcome." Yes We Can. A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin , a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America , through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. America , we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. Dear GOD,

We are suffering with a unsolved mistery...Called "RELIGION"..Day by day becoming Uncivilised..By Killing my brothers and sisters...As the kids We dont knows any thing except LOVE...when im born im pure...but im becoming selfish,by separating my self with community...Called RELIGION...Iam wearing with restrictions,eating with so many conditions,not having enough freedom to play with my friends of other RELIGIONS...Who has told these people all these things GOD...I dont need any RELIGION,which suffers me alot...MY MIND WAS BLOCKED WITH DISGUSTING RULES AND REGULATIONS...TO THINK BEYOND THE LIMITS OF RELIGION....IF I DID.... THEY ARE CALLING ME AS MAD........SO IM WRITING MY STORY TO THE WORLD BEING A SUFFERING CHILD....

MY BELOVED WORLD,

Iam not understanding why did u fighting with each other,My mom and my teacher told.. me that GOD will not forgive US,if we do BAD,then why you people,KILLING each other in the name of GOD and RELIGION....I WANA ASK U..."WHAT IS MY MISTAKE?....I DONT KNOW HOW TO BORN WITH OUT ANY RELIGIOUS LABEL.....BUT I DDNT BORN WITH A RELIGIOUS STAMP ON MY FACE...I WAS BORN VERY PURE LIKE THE GOD.....You are the one who has spoiled me,by adding a religious TAG to me....."Iam really surprised....that all the RELIGIONS teaches the same....LOVE and PEACE".....But Why do you not following this"THEN WHAT MAKES YOU RELIGIOUS.....YOU DONT HAVE ANY RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT RELIGION....IF YOU ARE FILLED WITH HATE .....STOP ALL THESE THINGS"...........

Today my world has filled with HATE and REGRET.....So many children were MISSING their Great Childhood. We LOVE to paly with our friends,wana listen stories from our grandma,during the bed time,wana eat the food from my mom's hand,wana go to SPIDERMAN'S movie with my dad and with my family.. THESE ARE MY DREAMZ......
But my Friends were killed in a Crutial incident... with a BOMB BLAST...They dont knows why did they were died.....Some TERRORISTS...had placed that bomb..."I DONT KNOW WHO IS TERRORISTS WERE.....AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT....THEY ARE SOME ONE LIKE THE GHOSTS....BUT REALLY SURPRISED BY KNOWING THAT... THEY ARE PEOPLE JUST LIKE U AND ME.......THEN WHY DID THEY KILLED MY FRIENDS...DID THEY GOT WHAT THEY WANTS.... BY KILLING US?....THEY ARE KILLING THE PEOPLE...WITH THE NAME OF RELIGION AND GOD....DATS REALLY DISGUSTING"......

I LOVE my grand ma....Even she is also not with me TODAY....she ddnt returned to home..from the market place...she was killed in a BOMB BLAST....she ddnt died with BOMB...But has died by the PEOPLE....Who were RUNNING with fear...By letting her down...and running by kicking her with their feet...She cried "HELP...HELP"....But they dont wana listen..

My Government is busy with arguing with other political parties...They are busy with giving statements...on each other...making them the cause for the incident.....Police were busy with giving security to these BIG PEOPLE....Then who is there for us to save us .Today there is no one to tell me....the cute Stories of my past world.. Like my grandma....

My Dad has went to the other country....for a JOB...to give us the happy life.....He was working in a great Organisation...In the huge building of the world....He told me that...The building is very igh...near to the clouds....I wana go there to touch the sky...BUT...BUT...BUT....One day Mom crying by seeing a NEWS on the TV.....That incident was Called"9/11".....That huge building was collapsed....By hitting with flights....Done by the same "TERRORISTS".....DAD was there in that building....WORKING FOR US....TO MAKE US HAPPY....But HE IS NO MORE TODAY.....Has Flown away across the clouds........Leaving us alone....."MISS U DAD"....."MISS U SO MUCH".....Who has Killed my DAD...."THE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS".....Later that Nation... who believes in JESUS CHRIST....The GOD died for PEACE....Has killed Lots of people....By making them Cause for"9/11".

Mom became Mad by seeing all these brutal things..... she has suffered alot 2 take care of Us....In my Country.....People were suffering with a DESEASE called "Superstitious Beliefs"....Widows were not treated properly....they are treated like a symbol of Bad Omen....But really i dont knw what's MOM'S fault of.... being a WIDOW...."It's the Fault of GOD...who has Made her A WIDOW.... and letting her in this cruel world....."......She cried alot everyday.....Due to the MISS BEHAVIOUR OF THE PEOPLE.....WOMEN DDNT GETTING... MINIMUM RESPECT IN THE LAND.....WHERE PEOPLE WORSHIPS WOMEN AS GODESS......MOM TURNED INTO MAD....Due to all these Aspects.....TODAY IM NOT getting MY MOM"S LOVE.....MISS U MOM...

Dear World....THIS IS THE STORY OF THE SO MANY KIDS OF THIS WORLD......THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOUR KIDS ALSO.....PLEASE STOP HATE AND REGRET....THERE IS NOTHING IN "RELIGION"....LOVE THE WORLD....GOD IS LOVE....HELP THIS WORLD...TO MAKE A BETTER WORLD.....

Dear GOD,
Recently i got a doubt about you...and with the term "RELIGION".In my world there are so many GODS...and RELIGIONS...And my people,jst killng and Dying for their RELIGIONS.So many Innocents were struggling due to this.So i wana ask u "WHO IS THE GOD?"....and "What is RELIGION?"..

GOD must be ONE....But how can i find the TRUE ONE?...who tells me about this?....If no one wants to told me about this,how can i find MY GOD....AND MY RELIGION..Whts the criteria to find MY SELF......
OK....I will be belongs to some RELIGION....but "which one tolds about MY RELIGION?"....."OFCOUSE MY BLOOD WONT TELLS ABOUT IT",then what makes me separate form others...If no one tolds me about my religion....."How can i find that?".
And Dear GOD...Where do u exists?.....I KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT THE ONE.....WHO CAN BIND HIM SELF WITHN 4 WALLS......U are the one "Who May Exists IN US.....When ever we DO GOOD"....Hepls people....Shares the LOVE....
